Dr. Tom Thunder and Acoustic Associates, Ltd. created and present to you courses for all needs: The NEW & The ONLY Completely ONLINE Courses, CAOHC Training & Refresher, Don’t Need certification: Audiometric Testing & Hearing Conservation for those that do not need caohc Certification. Some need CAOHC Certification and some simply just need training on a part of that full training course. CAOHC Training Course – ONLINE

Participants in our completely Online CAOHC Training Course will be eligible to receive certification from the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC).  The format will be zoom meetings in the mornings, leaving your afternoons open. With morning meetings the course will run 5 mornings, typically … Thurs, Fri, a weekend break, Mon, Tuesday, followed by a Wednesday wrap up, review and then test. We are able to more than adequately accomplish the practicums online as well. The test will also be online. The focus of Part One is preparing participants to conduct hearing screenings and pure-tone audiometry.  Part Two  we will working becoming familiar with all facets of occupational hearing conservation from noise surveys, hearing protection and fit-verification, to education, training, and managing of programs. Our focus for the Last Morning is reviewing hearing loss prevention strategies and preparation for the national CAOHC exam.

CAOHC Refresher Course – ONLINE

Our completely Online CAOHC Refresher course is held to review audiometric testing and the components of a hearing conservation program. This refresher seminar will provide updated information on new technology for preventing hearing loss and on new regulations. The format will be zoom meetings in the mornings, leaving your afternoons open. With morning meetings the course will run 3 mornings, typically … Mon, Tuesday, followed by a Wednesday wrap up, review and then test. We are able to more than adequately accomplish the practicums online. The test will also be online. The first two days we will working becoming familiar with all facets of occupational hearing conservation from noise surveys, hearing protection and fit-verification, to education, training, and managing of programs. Our focus for the Last Morning is reviewing hearing loss prevention strategies and preparation for the national CAOHC exam. Audiometric Testing Course – ONLINE

The completely Online Audiometric Testing seminar is designed for nurses, medical technicians, and physicians, who want to operate an audiometer, conduct hearing screening, perform audiometric testing, evaluate changes in hearing, and use otoscopy for hearing conservation purposes.

The format will be zoom meetings in the mornings, leaving your afternoons open. With morning meetings the course will run 2 mornings, Thurs and Fri. We are able to more than adequately accomplish the practicums online as well. The test will also be online. The focus of the Audiometric Testing Course/Part One, typically … Thurs & Fri, is preparing participants to conduct hearing screenings and pure-tone audiometry.

You’ll learn how to properly conduct the Forced Whisper Test (for DOT screenings) and how to set up, check the calibration, and use an audiometer.

During the seminar, there will be ample time for spent on audiometry and a practicum for audiometric testing.

This seminar alone would meet OSHA’s expectation that competence is achieved in (1) administering audiometric exams, (2) obtaining valid audiograms, and (3) properly using, maintaining and checking the calibration and proper functioning of audiometers. If you want more training on hearing protection and hearing loss prevention strategies and to achieve training equivalent to CAOHC, then register also for  our seminar on hearing conservation/part two.

Hearing Conservation Course – ONLINE

The Online Hearing Conservation course is designed for anyone responsible for implementing and maintaining a hearing conservation program such as physicians, audiologists, occupational nurses, safety managers, industrial hygienists, or human resource professionals.

The format will be zoom meetings in the mornings, leaving your afternoons open. With morning meetings the course will run 2 mornings, Monday and Tuesday. In the Hearing Conservation Course/Part Two, typically … Mon & Tue, we will becoming familiar with all facets of occupational hearing conservation from noise surveys, hearing protection and fit-verification, to education, training, and managing of programs.

In this seminar, you’ll learn what you need to know about the OSHA regulations and hearing loss prevention strategies to become a key individual in coordinating a continuing and effective program.

Specifically you’ll learn about noise-induced hearing loss, how noise exposure is determined, the new technology of custom-fit hearing protection, the emerging trend of fit-verification for earplugs, the new Personal Attenuation Rating, the three traits of  successful programs, the best methods to educate and motivate employees, dealing with STSs, entering events on the OSHA Log, and revising baseline tests. In addition, you’ll be able to identify STSs and know what to do when you find them.

CAOHC Training Course – Traditional Face2Face (currently on hold due to COVID-19)

Dr. Thunder’s 3-day CAOHC
Training Course
 makes you eligible to receive certification from the
Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC).
The focus of the 1st day is to prepare you to
conduct hearing screening and pure-tone audiometry. The focus on the 2nd day is
to familiarize you with all facets of occupational hearing conservation from
noise surveys, to hearing protection and fit-verification, to education and
training, and to managing of program. The focus of the 3rd day is
to review hearing loss prevention strategies to prepare you to take the
national CAOHC exam. 

The 3-day course includes the 1-day
seminar on Audiometric Testing, the 1-day seminar on Hearing Conservation, and
a ½- day seminar on Thursday to review the course and take the new national
CAOHC examination.

If you do not need CAOHC
certification but wish to meet OSHA’s expectations for conducting hearing
tests, register for the 1-day seminar on Audiometric Testing. If you want to
supplement this skill with knowledge of hearing protection, STS reviews, and
baseline revisions, register also for the 1-day seminar on hearing
conservation. These two seminars will give you CAOHC equivalence.

Upon completion you will be awarded
a certificate; which will provide evidence of training, as required, by OSHA
and MSHA. You will also qualify for certification by the Council for
Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC). In numerous states,
CAOHC certification is required. It is also required by MSHA, the US
Government, and many companies who perform industrial audiometry as well as
just good practice . You will also receive contact hours.

CAOHC Refresher Course – Traditional Face2Face (currently on hold due to COVID-19)

CAOHC Refresher Courses are held to review audiometric testing and the
components of a hearing conservation program. This refresher seminar will
update you on the new technology for preventing hearing loss and on new
regulations. It will qualify you for recertification by CAOHC which is required
